Starting multiple small niche blogs vs starting single big blog for making money.

I had found various bloggers confused to decide that whether they should start  one single macro blog of multiple keyword  or They should create multiple micro websites/blogs  of single keywords on different topic. So I am going to explain you the advantages and disadvantages of both and finally which decision is better for a blogger which help him to make more and more money from his blog / website.

When a new blogger starts his first blog , he is anxiously  waiting  for getting organic traffic to his blog & how soon he will start making money from is blog , but after few months / year when his blog start getting traffic through search engines and he start making money , he becomes very happy & he start dreaming & thinking different tricks & ideas in his blogging career to generate more and more money . Then this idea compulsory strike in the mind of every blogger that why not start few more blogs on different topic , if I will do so I will be able to make more money than I am earning today with my one blog .

But what is the result after 1 year . Was the decision of starting multiple micro blogs worked or not , I know that you will be very anxiously waiting to know the result So let me tell you my story first, when I experimented with this decision.

About 7 years back from now (in 2007) multiple micro blog idea was successful – The idea of creating multiple blogs of single keyword strike in my mind  and I started 3 different micro blogs  of single keyword , and on each blog I posted 10 posts ,  I had done a very basic search engine optimization  for each blog , I had done some keyword reacerch and put in the title of post & description , as well as I had created 10 backlink for each blog . I received an awesome result just within 2 month , all 3 of my blogs are listed in first page of search engines for those keyword . I applied for adsense and started making at least $ 100 USD per month from my each blog . But guys now this trick do not work , because SEO had changed a lot in recent few years . which I realized in 2015.

Now in 2014 , My idea of creating multiple micro blog failed –  Again I started two different micro blog of single keyword of 20 posts on each blog  , on both the blog I had done good on page & off page SEO , created about 20 backlinks for each blog , and waiting for the result from last  8 months, but still my  both blogs is in 2 nd page of search result of google and bing , even though I had written each post good enough long , but still my blog is listed down .

                   And most important thing , which I would like to tell you that – Those  macro & reputed websites whose alexa ranking is very good  are listed on page 1 of google for my keywords, has very less content about my keyword topic , even not more than 1 or 2 paragraph or just half page, but still they are listed on the top , I got very much socked and started analyzing why google is listing them on top even though they have very less content on the same topic which my keyword belongs.

Conclusion : Finally after lot of research on this topic I came to the conclusion that SEO has changed a lot in recent few years , search engines developers are well aware of this fact that web designers and bloggers are trying to cheat with the search engine , hence they had made various smart changes in their panda & penguin update of their algorithm  so that they should penalize those sites or blog who are just creating the content for search engine rather than focusing on quality of content.

 My suggestion  is , its always better to maintain a macro blog and try to make your blog a big brand on internet , which should be updated regularly and  refresh / edit modify or add if there are changes in the old content , create big social media exposure , means huge fans & followers on facebook, google + , twitter , pintrest , etc. if you do this your alexa ranking of blog will improve a lot , which leads to increase the opportunity of earning money from various sources , if you become a brand, you will directly get advertisement from companies for your blog , or you can make lot of money from affiliate marketing . but if you maintain multiple micro blogs , you will not have enough time to refresh and add content regularly on each blog , and mostly micro blogs have a very limited number of monetization options . Hence always dedicate yourself towards your one single blog , This could help you in your blogging career .

Advantages of  working  & Maintaining Single Macro blog :

• Improved Alexa Rank Advantage : if your blog has good Alexa ranking then you will get several offers for advertisement & product review on your blog / website , and good Alexa rank can only be achieved if  your blog  have huge number of visitors and huge number of visitors come to your blog if  you have lot of quality content and backlinks , and if your blog is updated on regular basic

                                But Micro blogs has very limited number of visitors and pages hence , it is never possible for micro niche blogs to achieve good Alexa ranking , Hence the blog owner has very limited ways to earn revenue from that blog.

• More Returning Unique Visitors Advantage : If you maintain a single blog then it is obvious that you will update fresh & new content regularly , Then those visitors who love your article or post will come back daily for new post , but a Micro blog has very limited number of posts and never updated or updated after long time , you can not accept returning visitors to your micro blog.

• More Back links advantage : Since Macro blog/ website have lot of pages , then obviously people who like your content will mention your blog / website details to other websites or even on their own blog , hence it leads to gain you maximum quality backlinks for free. While on micro blog the pages or post are very limited , hence the chances of getting backlink is probably very less.

• High Revenue potential by direct advertisement & paid review : If your blog/website traffic is very high and good alexa ranking , then quality advertisers who pay high advertising revenue will approach you directly for promoting their products and services , The will also ask you to review their product reviewed on your website / blog , in return of which they will pay you handsome money. While on micro blog it is highly impossible to get direct advertisement & paid review offer .

• Google Adsense Trust & Benefits : As we all know that no any other pay per click advertising company  which could compete with adsense , Since the per click earning/revenue generated by adsense is very high than any other its competitors , hence every web designer/blogger has a dream to get his website or blog monetize by adsense. Also  a big macro blog/ website with more content and good alexa ranking , high volume of traffic get additional benefits from adsense program , for example – easy to get approved in the program , High earning blogs/websites get  email support  for their adsense account , but for a micro blog it is first difficult to get approved for new adsense account . if approved they don’t get any support and even on any suspicious activity adsense don’t think much for getting your account banned. Hence try to create a reputed blog.

Disadvantages of  maintaining & working on Macro blog :  

• Takes Lot of time & Hard work : Since a macro blog/website contains lot of pages / posts which takes really hard work and lot of time , even you can not achieve output after 1 year from such blog .The blogger need to have lot of patience to create such a big blog , The chances of making any money from such blog in starting year is very less , hence blogger must have some financial backup for creating such blog/website.

• Alert from competitors & security issues : Since at the end of the day you had put all your hard work and effort at a single place , hence you also need to concerned about its security issues like no one should misuse or waste your product , when you grow up or stand a successful blog lot of your competitors bad eyes will be on your blog/product to kick out from the field. Hence never share your website administrative credentials to any one . keep proper up to date backup of your blog / website.

Advantages and disadvantages of starting micro blog of single keyword :

• By starting Micro blog with single keyword you may be able to make money in few month, but you can never expect good money & growth from it.

• Due to less traffic such blogs and websites are not able to get in to several affiliate programs & also the probability of getting direct advertisement is very rare.

• Micro blog can get approval easily from adsense easily but the chances of getting account banned on suspicious activity is much higher.

One example I am giving to you of a macro website , which thousands of post and is created by the top blogger of india is Digital inspirations of amit agarwal . He is one of the most successful blogger of our country , and he only maintain a single macro blog known as labnol , which is still the highest earning blog of our country ,and only monetize by adsense , he don’t have any other website but still he is earning the highest revenue in our country , Hence this is what I am willing to say you that if you are willing to create a bright career in blogging , never go in the business of creating multiple micro blogs.
